“Filterless Optical Add-Drop Multiplexers: Simplifying Metro Networks” “Streamlining Metro Networks with Filterless OADM Designs”
Filterless Optical Add-Drop Multiplexers (OADMs) are emerging as an innovative solution to reduce costs and complexity in metro-aggregation networks. By eliminating the need for conventional filters, this design offers a low-cost and energy-efficient alternative while supporting high-speed digital subcarrier multiplexing (DSCM).
B5G-OPEN demonstrates that filterless OADMs are highly suitable for modern metro networks, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency for next-generation connectivity.

The solid line denotes the downlink, where the SCs originating at the hub node are broadcast to all leaf nodes; and the dashed line, the uplink, where a given number of subcarriers are uploaded at every node.
